AN ABSENCE IN THE AIR, Pangyrus

I’m watching from my flat as the men fell the tree. Since I moved to this Istanbul neighborhood five years ago, it has swayed outside my sixth-floor windows, rooted in the garden below that stretches the length of the city block. WHAT YOU DO IN A COUP, Hippocampus Magazine(Finalist, Remember in November Contest for Creative Nonfiction)

My phone begins vibrating, and as a known and confirmed hermit, I’m surprised and consider being annoyed. It’s 10:30 p.m. on a Friday and Jenny and Chloe, who rarely message me, are both texting to ask if I know what the hell is going on. workshops and editing

workshops

I LOVE teaching workshops! My workshops include:

  • Creative writing for high school students

  • Writing in English for Turkish teachers (formal vs. informal)

  • Plain English for the corporate world

  • Writing effectively for clients

Contact me to discuss working together.

editing

I edit everything from tax information to creative writing. I work regularly with a creative writers’ group and have extensive experience editing for corporate clients, with an emphasis on plain English and making those who come to English as a second (or third!) language sound as if they’ve been speaking it all their lives.

I have experience editing:

  • Creative writing (novels, essays)

  • Business topics including: law, tax, regulatory issues, pharma, logistics, audit, white papers, marketing, energy, pitches/proposals, etc.
